My little critter

This is my critter, its name is CheerUp. CheerUp got its name because that was the number one thing most people seemed to tell him "Eh Cheer Up bro".
Its also got feathery antiners that has tiny nostrils at the tip, which can sense when danger is around. CheerUp's number one predator is usually the Flonty's. However CheerUp has the ability to use its antiners to sense the Flonty's from the rotten smell they have. CheerUp has a moist body which means it cannot be in the sunlight as it may dry out. It lives in dark moist conditions such as forests.
What is my environmental cue and my adaptive advantages?

  1. Love the name :)

    Environmental Cue: Light
    Orientation: Negative phototaxis.
Adaptive Advantage: This response might be adaptive so it won't dry out.

  2. Hi Cherub, cool critter, it looks a bit like the centaurs on Harry Potter! You've written a really good description of how the CheerUp interacts with Flontys (Rachael's critter); predation! I can see in your description that it's optimum environment is somewhere with low light levels, and high humidity. Humidity is hard to move towards or away from though, so I'm wondering if the CheerUp displays kineses instead? Which type would it be - change in turning, or change in speed?

  3. Hi Cherub, I worry about those very delicate antennae that will be damaged if CheerUp gets into a fight. How do other creatures protect those sort of sensory devices?
